A public organization called the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) was established to promote sustainable development, reform, and advancement in South Africa’s construction industry. In order to ascertain the highest value of work that contractors are eligible to tender for, the CIDB also awards contractors grade levels ranging from 1 to 9.
VAD Group is a construction and property development company based in Durban, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, founded by Amith Valjee who is currently pursuing his PhD in Property Development and Management Practices at the University of KwaZulu Natal, showcasing his dedication to advancing his expertise in the field.
His father, Deepak Valjee began his construction career in 1979 during apartheid, becoming the first in his community to earn a master craftsman’s accreditation in Olifantsfontein. His achievement broke barriers in an industry dominated by racial segregation. Today, his legacy is carried forward by his son, Amith Valjee, who driven by a passion for excellence and a strong interest in construction, founded VAD Group with a commitment to quality, innovation, and community engagement. The company comprises two key entities: VAD Construction and VAD Group Development.
VAD Construction specializes in a wide range of services, including commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential projects, as well as refurbishments and renovations. The company has successfully led numerous projects that highlight its ability to maintain high standards of quality and excellence. Some famous organizations that the company has worked and is working with are Aryan Benevolent Homes, Chinmaya Mission of South Africa, Friends of Sick Association (FOSA) and Shantik Foundation.
In parallel, VAD Group expanded into multi-residential property development, leading to the creation of VAD Group Developments. VAD Group Development is focused on providing luxury and affordable housing solutions for everyday people. The mission is to create high-quality living spaces that serve diverse communities while ensuring accessibility and affordability. This sister company is currently building Rewa Estate in the greater Kwa-Zulu Natal area of Durban, South Africa, establishing itself as a key player in property development and residential construction in Kwa-Zulu Natal Durban.
